He took the newest envelope from my hands, his fingers shaking, and flipped it over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe return address is just two towns over in Springfield.\u201d He looked right at me. \u201cWe need to go get Emma and leave. Right now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We drove straight to the diner where Emma worked. After a quick explanation, her manager let her clock out early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We drove the rest of the way in total silence and finally pulled up to a modest house with a neatly trimmed front lawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I knocked on the front door. The woman who answered looked exactly like Emma and me, just older. She stared at us in pure shock for a second, before completely breaking down into sobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMy babies!
