Chloe was across from her. Dylan was pacing back and forth. My dad was by the sink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSign it, mom,\u201d Chloe said. \u201cMarina doesn\u2019t take care of you. Chloe has the kids. Dylan needs to get out of debt. Marina has a job.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My mom looked at him with a sadness that broke me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMarina was hungry too, Ernest. Behind them was a social worker.
